Yummmm! Bake A Difference

Beth Eby is the Chairperson for our bake sales.  We will be following Monroe County Health Department guidelines for all bake sales.  We are asking that all donated items be individually wrapped for sale in either plastic zip-lock bags or plastic wrap.  Please package your baked goods in single serving packages, keeping in mind that the individual packages typically will be sold for 25 or 50 cents.  Place your donated goodies in a container and include a note listing your name, the name of your treat, and if the item contains nuts.  There is no need to pre-price items.

We have had a couple of times were parents have sent items in, but did not include their name.  Although we are very appreciative of donated items, we will not be able to sell items that do not have your name because of Monroe County Health Department rules.  So please make sure that you label your baked goods when they are sent in.

All bake goods can be delivered to the school office the day of the sale by either the parents or the students.  Unless you request otherwise, all goodies leftover after the sale will be shared with our teachers.

We have had MANY requests from students for Puppy Chow!

Here is the recipe I have for Puppy Chow:

9 cups Corn Chex or Crispix
1 C. semi-sweet choc. chips
1/2 C. peanut butter (usually use creamy kind)
1/4 C. margarine or butter
1 t. vanilla
1 1/2 C. powdered sugar

Cover cookie sheets (2?), jelly roll pan, or some large tray with waxed
or parchment paper.

Combine choc. chips, pb, & marg. in microwave safe bowl on HIGH for
1-1.5 minutes. Stir to combine and add vanilla. Heat longer if needed to
melt remaining chips. You may want to do med-high for 30 sec. and then
see as you go.

Put the cereal into a LARGE --really large--bowl and pour melted mixture
over the top and mix to coat cereal evenly. Pour this mixture into a
large, clean paper grocery bag OR into large ziploc bag(s) and add
powdered sugar. Seal bag tightly and gently shake bag to spread sugar
coating. Carefully pour out onto your waxed paper sheets and let chow
cool for a while before putting into a sealed container.

This is a bit messy but so yummy :-)

We have had some discussion about parents who may not want their children to be able to purchase

items from the bake sale. If you would like your child to not be able to purchase items,

please print and fill out the form below and send it to the office in an envelope marked

"PTO - Bake Sale".
